Worked great for 5 years! Then the problems began

I bake bread about once a month, and expected this mixer to be up to the task. It only worked well for 5 years, and I am very disappointed. I thought this mixer was made for kneading dough, but if you do it will not last long! I am not happy with kitchen aid!!!

More power

Bought this as a replacement for my classic plus which died after many years of hard use. Have only used this one once using my meat grinder attachment and it seems more powerful and did well. However am concerned that it is so much lighter then the older versions that it is made more cheaply and will not last. Time will tell.

Great but...

It is a little bulky and heavy for me, specially since I used an Artisan for years before buying this one, but I absolutely love it's capacity and power. I would've maybe designed the bowl to be more like the Artisan though instead since it takes a while and a lot of pressure to take it in and out. It also makes super loud mechanical noises that are hard to ignore and can cause a bit of concern (although it just seems to be "normal"). Another thing is, this is definitely for big batches. It does not work for half or small batches since the attachment won't touch the bowl at all. Overall I love it and it does a great job.

Received as a gift from my wonderful boyfriend after coveting one for years. Love the dough hook for making pizza and bread. My only complaint is that its difficult to snap the back of the bowl into place, but hopefully that will loosen a bit over time. It's also louder than I expected, but still much quieter than my old hand mixer! Wish I had more excuses to bake!

A Staple in Any Kitchen

I LOVE this appliance. I had been enjoying baking but doing so with hand tools (I didn't even have a hand mixer). This baby has breathed new life into my love for baking and has enhanced the textures of the things I make. I love that I can multitask in the kitchen now and clean up or work on another portion of the baking project while it takes care of mixing for me. The only thing that would make this better would if the design allowed it to hinge up to remove the attachment from the batter instead of having to remove the attachment by hand to remove the bowl.

I make 2 lb. loaves of bread several times a week. The lift top Kitchen Aid mixer started making little noises that wern't normal so I gave it away before I ruined it. This one works great, plenty of power. Only problem I faced was the pin that held the dough hook would slip out a little making it impossible to remove hook. I forced it out added a little "Lock Tight", replaced the pin and have had no further problems, many a loaf of bread later. Price can't be beat. Would surely buy iy again.

Very good heavy-duty mixer

I have only used the mixer once to make a cake. There is no comparison to my last Oster mixer which was housed with plastic and not nearly as powerful. I was dubious about purchasing a refurbished model, but after unpacking and running an equipment check, it seemed to operate like a new one. I also purchased a blade spatula and it also works well scraping the sides of the bowl. I highly recommend this mixer.
